About Me

Shalom and Salaam Alaikum!

I am a 23-year-old aspiring Middle East reporter and the future protégé of Christiane Amanpour (a girl can dream, can’t she?!).

I was awarded a 2008-2009 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship by Rotary District 6630 of Northeast Ohio. The scholarship allowed me to pack my bags and move to Beer-Sheva, Israel.

Here I am studying for a master’s degree in Middle East studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, but only when I am able to tear myself away from promoting international goodwill, peace and understanding!

My expected graduation date is July 14, 2009.

I owe Rotary International, Rotary District 6630 and the Rotary Club of Parma a great deal of thanks for this brilliant opportunity, and I am proud to have been chosen as your “ambassador” to Israel for the upcoming year.

Likewise I would like to thank the members of the Rotary Club of Beer-Sheva for welcoming me into their hearts and homes. And I hope that before I am due to depart, I will have helped to establish a strong and prosperous partnership between our home clubs.

Some background info:

By now it is probably obvious that I love to travel. I am a resident of the great city of Parma, which is a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. But I also have had the opportunity to call home Ukraine, Egypt, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

In December 2007 I graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University with a master’s and a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism.

I have interned at several top news organizations: WEWS News Channel 5 in Cleveland, E News in Johannesburg, CBS News in London, KVRR-TV Fargo for whom I reported as the Washington, D.C. correspondent and TIME Magazine in London.

So hot off the press…come read all about it!
